Staff

Victoria Office

Executive Director: Jodi Jensen

Jodi Jensen As the Executive Director of the Professional Employees Association, Jodi is responsible for the day to day functions of the organization, including supervision of all staff and activities in both offices and coordinating the work of the Association Executive and its committees.

Jodi came to the PEA in 1998 as a Labour Relations Officer and quickly assumed more responsible roles within the organization, first as Senior Labour Relations Officer and then moving into the Executive Director role in 2003. Prior to working for the PEA, Jodi filled positions related to her background in chemistry, non-profit advocacy, and union organizing. Her experience and knowledge of labour relations enable her to implement strategies to realize the union's visions for the future.

Jodi has seen the PEA grow in size and complexity over the years and had a hand in many of the PEA's historical milestones. Jodi helped to plan and implement governance changes that led to the PEA's first delegated convention and coordinated the organizing campaigns that led to the union's growth and addition of the SMS and LSL Chapters. She also led the successful campaign in 2004 to preserve the GLP chapter within the PEA. She believes that the PEA fills a valuable and unique niche in the labour movement as a credible, effective representative for professionals.

Labour Relations Officer: Scott McCannell

Scott McCannellScott comes to the PEA with a broad background in both labour relations and human resources. Scott says his passion for  labour relations started as a local union activist and elected representative with the Energy & Chemical Workers Union (now CEP) and continued while he completed his B.Comm degree. Scott has continued to expand his knowledge and experience working in labour relations capacities in forestry, IT, and government and feels strongly about contributing towards the establishment of fair and engaging workplaces. He feels the PEA is a progressive, strategic, member-focused organization, that it is an appealing choice for BC’s licensed professionals. Scott’s free time is spent with family and being active in the outdoors.

Labour Relations Officer: Rhiannon Bray

Rhiannon Bray Rhiannon’s keen interest in organized labour made her a welcomed addition to the PEA in 2009. In addition to a Master’s Degree in Dispute Resolution, her experience with Labour Relations includes work on a Global Human Resources project for SANYO Electric in Japan and, more recently, exploring the exclusion of pharmacological pregnancy prevention from extended health care benefits in a unionized environment. Rhiannon has remained an active member within the locals  she has belonged to previously and believes that more young workers need to become involved within their Unions to protect workers’ right and to keep the labour movement strong. Over the last year, Rhiannon has gained a wealth of experience in PEA Labour Relations as an Administrative Assistant in our Victoria office and is eager to continue her career with the organization as our newest Labour Relations Officer. In her spare time, Rhiannon enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Administrative Assistant (Victoria): Marianna Azouri

Marianna Crawford When calling the Victoria office, the first thing you'll likely hear is Marianna's charming Italian accent. Even though she is technically an administrative assistant, her job title should be changed to everything assistant. Her never-normal work day involves anything from coordinating travel to managing executive projects. For the past decade, Marianna has been looking out for her fellow PEA staff members as the heart of the Victoria Office. Her vast clerical background includes positions with CIBC Bank, Canadian Aviation Insurance, and various medical organizations. Since coming to the PEA in 2000, Marianna has grown with the association and truly values the integrity and difference her employer makes in the lives of so many individuals. Her sense of humour definitely spices up our office culture, and her dedication to her son warms the hearts of everyone who meets this glowing professional. On the weekends, Marianna enjoys walking, reading, and exploring the world of personal computing. She lives life to the fullest, and believes everyone should be given the opportunity to do so. Being passionate about humanitarian work, Marianna told us that, if given a million dollars, she would travel to help the needy around the world that are forgotten. Marianna recently gave birth to her second beautiful baby boy, Luca.

Lower Mainland Office

Labour Relations Officer: Frank Greenlay

Frank Greenlay Frank sees the function of a Labour Relations Officer as similar to a firefighter in his daily duties for the PEA. Issues flair up and are dealt with as they come in, with ongoing work to deal with lingering hot spots. Frank enjoys continuous direct contact with everyone involved with the association and with the members he services, and he values the travel involved in his position as it provides an important contact point for members across the province. His long history of involvement in union activity brought him to his current position with the PEA. He was active with his own union, being recruited and elected to a number of local executive positions over the years, including president. Frank's passion for resolving workplace conflict continued when he worked as a staff representative with his own union, and later with the Faculty Association at BCIT. Frank does not see himself ever fully retiring, as working with people is his number-two interest in life. Number one is family, principally in trying to keep up with his daughter. Frank resides in Burnaby with his wife and daughter.

Administrative Assistant (Surrey): Joanne Petersen

Joanne Petersen Since 1996, Joanne has been the Administrative Assistant for the PEA's lower mainland operation. Besides handling the day-to-day administrative and membership duties, Joanne is responsible for planning the PEA's Convention and Education Conferences, Local Rep Training sessions and other meetings for the PEA chapters. She adds a witty sense of humour to our organization that helps to brighten the day for PEA members and employees. Her work history includes working at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce after graduation from high school and subsequently as an administrative assistant in the Planning Department of the City of Burnaby for 15 years. On weeknights and weekends, she unwinds with her yoga mat and travels with her husband throughout the lower mainland to cheer on their two sons in their various sports activities.
