Your PEA bargaining committee is preparing for collective bargaining, as the collective agreement with St. Margaret’s School expires June 30th, 2010.
We ask you to complete an online survey in preparation for bargaining. We depend on your responses to ensure our approach to bargaining reflects members’ priorities.
The survey can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DHCKFJP
The survey will remain open until Thursday, March 11, 2010. Your responses to the survey are kept in the strictest confidence.
Your Bargaining Committee will be providing members with as much information as possible, so that members can make informed decisions in regard to collective bargaining priorities. The PEA always takes a reasonable and pragmatic approachto bargaining and will be working hard to build on recent positive developments with SMS to negotiate a collective agreement that meets our members’ interests and that is fair to the school.
There are questions in the survey which ask you to indicate whether you would be willing to take job action in the event it is not possible to negotiate certain improvements. These questions allow your bargaining committee to understand the importance of particular issues to the membership. Please note that a special meeting would be conducted if job action was contemplated and then a strike vote would be taken before job action proceeded.
You will also notice in the survey that we are providing some comparative information on other relevant settlements. We look forward to meeting with all members from 4PM to 5PM on March 31st in Room 10/11 when we will discuss a summary of survey results, provide additional comparative information and be available to hear your thoughts and ideas. We will be providing you with regular updates throughout the bargaining process.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact any member of the bargaining committee.
