HSP members are encouraged to read their second bargaining bulletin.
The Health Science Professionals (HSP) Chapter Executive has been meeting regularly over the past month to prepare for collective bargaining and address other matters impacting chapter members.
The HSP Bargaining Association will go to the bargaining table with representatives of the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) on March 17 and 18. The Bargaining Association includes all unions representing members of the HSP bargaining unit, including the PEA, Health Sciences Association, BC Government and Service Employees’ Union, and Canadian Union of Public Employees.
In preparation for negotiations, the Chapter Executive reviewed and analyzed the results of the bargaining survey completed by HSP members early in the year. The Chapter Executive has identified mileage rates, working alone provisions, and reformation of the classification system as key bargaining priorities for our members. The PEA has communicated these priorities to the Bargaining Association and commits to keeping members up-to-date with the status of collective bargaining through bargaining bulletins.
As previously reported, the Chapter Executive has been exploring a number of options for making the most of the PEA’s portion of the Bill 29 settlement funds totaling approximately $36,000. The Chapter Executive is continuing to discuss disbursement options and commits to contacting members directly by mail when a decision has been finalized.
Recently, the Chapter Executive donated $500 to the Red Cross to help with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.
