What does dovetailed seniority list mean?

Dovetailed Seniority List (DSL) and Dovetailed Seniority List Area (DSLA) — the dovetailed seniority list is used for the purposes of vacancy, posting, bumping and recall. Facilities included in each list were initially determined by a decision of the Labour Relations Board in 2002. Individual DSLAs may have changed as a result to subsequent bargaining between the parties.

DSLAs apply to worksites that are directly owned and operated by the health authorities, except for the Provincial Healthy Services Authority. Employees of denominational facilities and affiliated agencies are not included in the DSLAs.
