Resolutions Guide

This guide is intended to assist Government Licensed Professionals interested in submitting resolutions to the GLP Chapter Annual General Meeting.

Resolutions can have a direct impact on the membership and on how the GLP Chapter operates. Members can submit resolutions to the GLP Chapter AGM which, if adopted, will result in changes to the GLP Chapter Constitution or guide the actions of the GLP Chapter Executive. However, resolutions adopted at the AGM are only binding if there is a quorum of members present at the meeting. Without a quorum, the resolutions are considered as advice to the GLP Chapter Executive, which normally acts upon and reports on the outcome of the various resolutions.

Any GLP member may submit a resolution for consideration. Resolutions must be signed by at least two chapter members and received by the Victoria office prior to the published deadline.

All resolutions submitted prior to the published deadline are posted on the PEA website for viewing by chapter members prior to the AGM. If you have submitted a resolution but are not attending the AGM, you may wish to contact members who are attending to discuss your resolution.

Members should be aware that resolutions may be amended prior to being presented at the AGM. The Resolutions Committee reviews all resolutions for overlap, conflict and clarity. The committee is empowered to modify, combine and alter resolutions for clarity as well as to make recommendations.

Members attending the AGM may present a resolution from the floor of the meeting provided that a majority of members present and voting vote to accept the resolution for consideration. Members presenting a resolution from the floor will be required to present the resolution in writing, preferably typed. If the AGM participants vote to allow the resolution to be presented for debate, the Resolutions Committee will review the resolution, may amend it, and will bring forward a recommendation for voting.

Members submitting resolutions are encouraged to ensure that the wording and intent of the resolution is clear and unambiguous. Previous resolutions may be viewed through the minutes of previous AGMs.

To summarize, members considering submitting a resolution should:
