GLP — Bargaining Bulletin #7

Chapter Links

January 8, 2010

The GLP Bargaining Committee met on January 4 and 5 in Victoria to determine our bargaining strategy based on the priorities identified by members through the online bargaining survey and the meetings held throughout the province in the fall.

Our priority proposals for this round of collective bargaining include:

One member-identified priority does not appear in this set of proposals. A strong majority of members have indicated that they do not want our OSS provisions (Article 15) changed. As a result, there is no proposal concerning OSS in our package.

Aside from OSS, not all issues that members raised are captured on this priority list. We chose to craft a smaller, more focused package of proposals than members may have seen in the past. In deciding which issues should be included, we had to weigh a number of factors, including the priorities identified by members, and whether a suggested proposal addressed a real and substantial problem. In our view, the priorities identified above are reasonable and defensible, and will form a workable basis for collective agreement negotiations.

We are committed to representing your interests and achieving the best deal possible for Government Licensed Professionals. We welcome your comments and feedback on the priorities we have identified. Please direct your comments to the committee via Executive Director Jodi Jensen by Friday, January 15.
