The Grants & Donations Committee is currently reviewing the nominees list and will release a ballot on April 1st.

We are excited to introduce the PEA's Giving Back 2010 initiative this spring.

The Association Executive of the Professional Employees Association has approved changes to Policy 6.6, Grants & Donations. Currently, the Grants & Donations Committee makes recommendations to the Executive for funds distribution based on requests sent from various not-for-profit groups.

Since this is your union, the Association Executive felt that you should have a say in who should receive grants and donations from the PEA.

The amendments, found under Section B.3, say that members will have the opportunity to nominate individuals or organizations, other than labour organizations, to receive PEA grants and donations. The Grants & Donations Committee will review all nominations received from members and compile a short-list of nominated individuals and organizations.

This is your chance to tell the rest of the membership which organizations or individuals you think the PEA should support.

Giving Back 2010:

Members can nominate an individual or organization to receive a PEA grant or donation until 11:59PM on March 15th. Once the nomination deadline has passed, the Grants & Donations Committee will compile a short-list of nominated candidates.

On April 1st, the short-list will be released and e-ballots will be available for members to vote among the candidates. Voting is open to all PEA members for the month of April, and the recipients will be announced on the first day of the Education Conference in Vancouver this May.

Nominating an organization:

The nominating period has closed. Nominations were open from February 1st to March 15th.

The Grants & Donations Committee is currently reviewing the nominees list and will release a ballot on April 1st.

Voting:

All members will have the opportunity to vote among the short-listed candidates. Voting will open on April 1st and remain open for the entire month of April.

Ballots will be cast and tabulated through an online e-balloting system. PEA members will use their login credentials to vote and may only vote once.

The results will be tabulated at the start of May, and the recipients of the PEA grants and donations will be announced at the Education Conference and posted online.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only active members in good standing may submit nominations and participate in voting. You must have a signed membership application and assigned member number to nominate and/or vote for grants and donations recipients.
