Senior Scientific Assistant, Victoria
Tom is passionate about social justice, so he is a perfect addition to the PEA executive. Over the years, Tom has had varying roles on the Association Executive including Secretary-Treasurer, UVic Representative, and previous terms as Second Vice-President. Prior to his current role as Second Vice-President, Tom was appointed by the UVic chapter as an Executive Rep following two terms as the Association's Secretary Treasurer and one as Second Vice President. At UVic, this multi-talented member is an instructor in graphic art and scientific photography, while in the past he was an art gallery consultant, commercial photographer, and faculty member. Although Tom initially became involved with the PEA to promote the interests of members, he describes his time with the Executive as a learning experience, interacting with members from other chapters that he wouldn't have met without being on the PEA executive. Tom brings extensive knowledge of PEA history and of process, from years in the civil liberties movement, to his role within the association. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, hiking, cooking and adding to his vast book collection.
