Job losses impact community health members

May 31, 2010

The PEA received the required notice of workforce adjustment from Vancouver Coastal Health under Section 54 of the B.C. Labour Relations Code. Notice is required when changes in the workplace may impact a significant number of employees under the collective agreement. The intent of the notice is to provide a forum for the PEA and the employer to work to develop an adjustment plan to benefit the affected members.

Chapter Chair Linda Lucier and Labour Relations Officer Frank Greenlay met with the employer to receive the news that eight members were being displaced from their jobs. Under the terms of the collective agreement in community health, members have bumping rights that will have a domino effect through the chapter. The PEA is working with the affected members to protect their rights.
