The renewed Community Health Sub Sector Collective Agreement is in effect from April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2012, and has a number of new provisions for all members.
The agreement includes the introduction of a point of sale drug card, increased coverage for vision care, and the establishment of joint working groups that will work to improve scheduling practices and sick leave benefits.
“The economic climate made for tough bargaining but with the term of the agreement being two years, we will
be back to the table quickly,” said PEA Labour Relations Officer Frank Greenlay.
Full details of the changes are available from our online office at http://www.pea.org/media/documents/CHSS_CBA_proposals.PDF
The PEA is part of the Community Bargaining Association (CBA), which bargains for members in the CHSS
Chapter. The CBA represents 12,000 members belonging to a number of unions including the PEA, the
BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), the Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU), and the
Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).
76% of CBA members voted to ratify the contract. PEA members voted 53% in favour of ratification.
